Capital City Shootout: California girls to take on Owensville

It looks like it should be a pretty good matchup when the California Lady Pintos and the Owensville Dutchgirls meet this afternoon in the Capital City Shootout.

California enters the game with a 3-2 mark. Earlier this week, the Lady Pintos posted a 62-36 victory against the Centralia Lady Panthers as all 12 California players scored in the contest.

Kayla Allison, a junior, led the attack with 16 points, while sophomore Elizabeth Lutz chipped in with 11.

"It was a big deal for us to get every girl in the book and we did it. I am pleased with the way the girls played, they passed up good shots tonight for great shots and that is what makes us a good team," California coach Bobby Sangster said.

On Tuesday, California dropped a 69-46 decision to the Southern Boone Lady Eagles.

The Lady Pintos also have wins this season against Boonville (54-53) and Tipton (89-41). California's other defeat came in a 44-42 contest against Plato.

Owensville was 3-1 heading into a pair of late-week games against St. Francis Borgia and Sullivan.

Owensville opened the season with a 67-46 loss to Jefferson City at the St. James Shootout before rattling off wins against Fatima (63-49), Steelville (55-31) and Linn (57-7).

Hailey Diestelkamp, a senior, leads the Dutchgirls in scoring at 18.8 points and rebounding at 5.8 per game. Brookelyn Limberg, also a senior, is next at 10.3 points per contest.
