Lincoln University students are in the spotlight again this year, in the annual "Blue Tiger Fest" co-sponsored by LU and the Downtown Jefferson City Association.

The event runs from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, and is based in the 200 block of Madison Street (between High Street and East Capitol Avenue).

"This is an opportunity to get our students into Downtown Jefferson City, an area for shopping and dining which isn't too far from campus," LU spokeswoman Misty Young explained.

The event kicks off with a "welcome" from Lincoln University officials, followed by performances by the LU's Marching Musical Storm (band), cheerleaders and the Lincoln University Choir, from 6-7 p.m.

Starting at 7, there's an hour-long scavenger hunt through downtown Jefferson City, involving various businesses.

And the night ends with a "block party" from 8-9 p.m.

Cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, ice cream and a bounce house will be available throughout the evening, as well as booths featuring information about Lincoln University and community organizations.
