New Bloomfield increases patrol vehicle bid

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- The New Bloomfield Board of Aldermen tabled two decisions and granted the police department an additional $500 for a new vehicle at its meeting Thursday night.

The board held a public hearing prior to its regular meeting regarding 2015 tax rates. However, while the rates were being discussed, an error on the state auditor's review summary was discovered; the error was identified as a typo in the Current Year Rate Computed on the tax rate summary. The board agreed to table the tax rate discussion until the next meeting, and board member Paul Hilchen made the motion to fix the discrepancy during the regular meeting.

The board also agreed to table a decision concerning the city's sales tax on metered water services.

In other board news, Police Chief Christopher Hammann requested to increase the bid to purchase a 2009 Crown Victoria patrol vehicle from the City of Sturgeon. The board agreed at the last meeting for a $2,000 bid, but Thursday, per Hammann's request, it was agreed to increase the bid to $2,500.

Hammann also told the board the department will be purchasing two additional handguns for $800 from the leftover $1,100 equipment budget fund.

In regard to the city's balance sheet, the board moved the entire Capital Improvement account of $15,289.58 to the city's street fund, which showed a deficit of more than $1,000, according to the balance sheet.
