Small Business Academy applications due Aug. 17

The Small Business Academy, a joint effort of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce and the University of Missouri Extension's Small Business & Technology Development Centers in Cole County, will open its 2015 session Sept. 16.

The program helps enable participants to achieve their personal visions of business growth by improving and strengthening their strategic planning skills and entrepreneurial knowledge. The academy uses the Kauffman Foundation's FastTrac Growth Venture curriculum, accompanied by lecture and small-group activities and discussions.

The Small Business Academy comprises approximately 32 class hours over 11 weekly sessions, ending Nov. 25. Each session is from 8-11 a.m. on a Wednesday. The cost to participate is $450, and applications are due by Aug. 17.

The coordinators ensure that competitors are not in the same class; if conflicts arise, applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are interested in applying to participate in the Small Business Academy, contact Shaun Sappenfield at the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce by email at [email protected] or by phone at 573-638-3586, or contact Chris Thompson at the University of Missouri Extension by email at [email protected] or by phone at 573-634-2824.
