GAINESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Troy Merritt shot a tournament-record 10-under 61 on Saturday for a share of the lead with Kevin Chappell after three rounds in the Quicken Loans National.

Merritt moved to the top of the leaderboard even before the second-round leaders hit their first shots. He had 11 birdies and a bogey on the par-5 eighth hole.

Chappell had a 67 to join him at 14-under 199.

The challengers at the tournament midpoint included Tiger Woods, but the two-time champion and tournament host was errant off the tee early, gave back three strokes in his first 12 holes and finished with a 74 to drop into a tie for 42nd at 5 under.

Rickie Fowler was one shot back after a 68, and Jason Bohn (67), Whee Kim (67), Charles Howell III (67) and David Lingmerth (68) were 12 under with a round left at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.

WOMEN'S BRITISH OPEN

TURNBERRY, Scotland (AP) - South Korea's Jin-Young Ko and Taiwan's Teresa Lu each shot 3-under 69 to share the third-round lead in the Women's British Open.

The 20-year-old Ko, playing in her first major championship, and Lu were at 8-under 208 on Turnberry's Ailsa Course. Norway's Suzann Pettersen, the second-round leader, was a stroke back after a 72.

Japan's Mika Miyazato had a 70 to reach 6 under, and top-ranked Inbee Park of South Korea, 18-year-old Lydia Ko of New Zealand, and Australia's Minkee Lee were 5 under. Park had a 69, Lydia Ko shot 72, and Lee had a 70. Park is bidding to complete a career Grand Slam.

3M CHAMPIONSHIP

BLAINE, Minn. (AP) - Defending champion Kenny Perry had a hole-in-one and matched the 3M Championship record with an 11-under 61 to take a four-stroke lead in the Champions Tour's event.

Perry played the first eight holes in 7 under, making the ace on the 188-yard fourth hole, and had two birdies on the back nine and closed with an 18-foot eagle putt on the par-5 18th.

Perry had a 14-under 130 total at TPC Twin Cities.

Kevin Sutherland and Scott Dunlap were tied for second. Sutherland had a 65, and Dunlap shot 67.

Minnesota native Tom Lehman, the first-round leader after a 64, had a 71 to drop into a tie for fourth at 9 under with Bernhard Langer and Marco Dawson. Langer and Dawson each shot 67. Dawson won the Senior British Open last week in England.

PAUL LAWRIE MATCH PLAY

ABERDEEN, Scotland (AP) - Scotland's Marc Warren holed out from 59 yards for eagle on the 19th to beat England's Tyrrell Hatton the Paul Lawrie Match Play quarterfinals.

Warren was 3 down after five holes and needed on-course treatment by the European Tour physio for a back problem. Hatton chipped in for birdie on No. 18 at Murcar Links to force extra holes.

Warren will face Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat in the semifinals. Aphibarnrat beat Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey 2 and 1. In the other quarterfinals, Sweden's Robert Karlsson beat Scotland's Richie Ramsay 1 up, and England's David Howell topped countryman Chris Wood 5 and 4.

MADEIRA ISLANDS OPEN

SANTO DA SERRA, Madeira Islands (AP) - Sweden's Pontus Widegren had two eagles and shot a 5-under 67 to take a one-stroke lead in the Madeira Islands Open.

Widegren had a 16-under 200 total. Finland's Roope Kakko and Scotland's Scott Henry were tied for second. Kakko birdied the final three holes for a 64, and Henry shot 65.

The tournament was postponed in March after a round because of rain and high wind.
