Jefferson City Cantorum presents "A Musical Journey" as its spring concert, which celebrates music from around the world.

The program includes "Shenandoah," "Cindy," "How Can I Keep From Singing," "Loch Lomond," "Tell My Ma" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."

The River City Children's Choir will be featured at the concert, performing four songs and joining the Cantorum in one number.

Three percussionists will join the group on several songs and other instruments featured include: cello, clarinet, flute, xylophone and tuba. These musicians are local and donate their time and talent to the group.

Pianist Jan Houser accompanies the Cantorum and her students will play in the atrium prior to the concert.

This is the last concert for musical director Glen Webb ,who is retiring to spend more time with his family

Webb said he has been with the group since 2004 and has been director since 2007. He has enjoyed being with the group but needs to spend more time with his family.

"I have five children ranging in age from 11 to 2 and they require more of my time," Webb said.

According to Webb, it is not just rehearsals that take time but also studying the music and making sure the music is correct for the group.

"The group is fantastic. You won't find a finer group of people in the community and I call them my friends," Webb said.

A highlight of the evening is the presentation of the J. Patrick Healey, scholarship which was established in memory of Pat Healey who was founder/director of the group from 1967-2005.

This concert is also dedicated to the memory of Nancy Jo Day, 34-year member of Cantorum, who died in January.

"The highlight of the concert for me will be directing with the Children's Choir in the concert because two of my daughters are in the choir and this will be great," Webb said.
