Dear Editor:
Even before President Obama got elected numerous Republicans and Fox News personnel were predicting everything and anything bad was going to happen to America.
Let's review some of those and see what actually happened. Mitt Romney concerning the bailout of GM and Chrysler said that will be the ruination of America and cause this country to go bankrupt also. After those two car companies paid back their loans he said and I quote "That was my idea in the first place." What a hypocrite.
Obama's action not only saved two thirds of our manufacturing base in addition it also saved over one million jobs besides. Mitt also said that unemployment wouldn't get below 6 percent under Obama. The rate has been below that now for many months after over 60 straight months of plus job growth despite 100 percent Republican obstruction.
Rush Limbaugh said and I quote "There's no doubt about this and it's gonna be ugly. This country is going to totally collapse if Obama is re-elected. Reality is current economic situation fastest growth in more than a decade. Also the stock market is at record highs and setting new records on a regular basis and the fourth longest bull market since World War II.
Newt Gingrich in 2012 said if you want $10 a gallon gasoline just re-elect Barrack Obama. Reality gas is just above $2 a gallon and has been for some time.
Bill O'Reilly as recent as 2014 said Obama has failed miserably to improve the economy with little or no job growth since 1999 (Time Magazine)
Sen. John McCain said Obama should not have removed American troops from Iraq. We had that war won. Reality. This president was following the troop withdrawal proposal that President Bush proposed before he left office. Furthermore the government of Iraq and the Iraqi people demanded that all American troops be removed along with the proposed residual force.
Sen. Lindsey Graham predicted that if Obama was elected there would be several terrorist attacks worse than the one that hit the World Trade Center on 9/11. Hasn't happened yet.
These are the facts and the Republicans predictions couldn't have been more off the mark. And this president accomplished this despite almost 100 percent obstruction by Republicans.
