Prep Baseball: Blair Oaks C team tourney

WARDSVILLE, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays freshman-sophomore team defeated Helias 5-3 on Saturday to win the Blair Oaks C Tournament. Blair Oaks fell 8-5 to Fatima to finish fourth.

In the championship game, Kade Franks picked up the win for the Jays. Payton Bodenstab, Tyler Bise, Cole Ahrens and Mason Hansen each had a hit.

Earlier, the Jays defeated Southern Boone 10-3. Cade Galbraith earned the win. Bise and Ahrens each had two hits.

The Jays (14-7) host Rock Bridge on Tuesday.

In the third-place game, Blair Oaks led 5-3 after two innings but allowed five runs in the fifth to finish fourth of six teams at the tournament.

Scott Farley pitched all five innings for Blair Oaks, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

Farley helped his cause at the plate with two hits and two RBI. Austin Veltrop had two hits and scored two runs. Steven Drake had two hits.

Blair Oaks (5-10) hosts Russellville on Tuesday.
