JC man arrested for break-in at Holts Summit business

A 26-year-old Jefferson City resident was arrested Tuesday in connection with a break-in at a Holts Summit business earlier in the day.

Officers responded to an alarm just before 3 a.m. Tuesday at the business on the 100 block of Northstar Drive. Upon arrival, they noticed glass in the front of the business was shattered. Surveillance video revealed the suspect was a black male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing dark pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a red cap, according the the release.

Within 20 minutes of requesting public help locating the suspect, Holts Summit Police Department received a tip leading officers to contact the Jefferson City Police Department, which quickly located the suspect and discovered evidence related to the break-in at the business.

HSPD Sgt. Marc Haycook said investigators wanted to stress the importance of community involvement in solving crimes like this.

"Their work was phenomenal," Haycook said of the Jefferson City Police Department's assistance.

Jefferson City officers made the arrest and the suspect was taken to the Callaway County Jail, where charges are pending.
