Golf: Lincoln at MIAA Championships

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln men are in fifth place and the women are in eighth after the opening day of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association's Golf Championships.

On the men's side, Lincoln finished with a 325 in the opening round Monday of the three-day event.

Drew Geritz is tied for 12th after an 79. Austin Ruediger is tied for 15th after totaling an 80, while Blake Lammers and Cody Shaw are among the golfers tied for 25th with 83s.

Central Missouri leads the team race with a 310, five shots better than Central Oklahoma. Washburn is third with a 322, one shot better than fourth-place Lindenwood.

On the women's side, Lincoln finished with a total of 375 in the opening round.

Sophia Pardalos of the Blue Tigers is tied for 10th after shooting an 83. Lauren McHenry is tied for 10th with a 92, while Mackenize Wilson is tied for 43rd with a 97 and Hanna Berendzen is 47th after a 103.

Central Oklahoma totaled a 320 to lead the 10-team event by one shot against Northeastern State.

Both tournaments are being played at the Alvamar Golf Club.
