Prep Baseball: Jays top Falcon frosh

WARDSVILLE, Mo. - The Jefferson City freshmen blew out Blair Oaks twice Tuesday, defeating the Falcons 12-0 and 18-1.

In the opener, Payton Bodenstab had five hits for the Jays, and Cade Galbraith had two. Galbraith took the win, throwing six innings and allowing two hits in the seven-inning contest.

On the Falcons' end, Thomas Verslues had Blair Oaks' only two hits. He also pitched three innings, allowing three hits six runs - one earned - three walks and striking out one as he took the loss. Scott Farley pitched four innings, allowing six hits, five earned runs and three walks to go with two strikeouts.

The second contest was shortened to four innings. Michael Manda and Michael Skinner combined to pitch the Jays' four innings. Eight Jays had a hit apiece, and Galbraith had two hits.

Austin Veltrop was the losing pitcher, and he allowed two runs - one earned - on three hits in his inning of work. Tim Fick threw two innings for Blair Oaks, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out one.

Tyler Gish had two hits for the Falcons.

Jefferson City (8-2) plays today at Hickman, and Blair Oaks (2-8) hosts Mexico on Thursday.
