Two big home runs help MU softball team notch win

COLUMBIA - The Missouri softball team won the rubber match of a home series with Mississippi State on Sunday, defeating the Bulldogs 10-2 in a game shortened to five innings due to the run rule.

Kirsten Mack knocked a grand slam in the first inning to help Missouri jump out to a quick 6-0 lead. The Tigers cushioned their lead with home runs in the third and fifth innings.

Angela Randazzo's solo shot came first, and Natalie Fleming cranked a three-run homer in the fifth to end the game early. Missouri has hit multiple home runs in 17 games this season.

Missouri's first two runs came on a bases-loaded walk and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch.

Tori Finucane (14-6) pitched all five innings for the Tigers. She allowed two unearned runs on three hits, four walks and a strikeout.

Missouri took the first game of the series 3-2 on Friday and fell 8-4 to the Bulldogs on Saturday.

The Tigers (26-10) are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Western Illinois for a midweek doubleheader. Game times are 4 and 6 p.m.
