Boys Tennis: Jays win two duals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays went 2-0 in tennis duals Friday.

The Jays started the day by blanking Hillcrest 9-0.

Winning in singles by 8-0 scores were David Clausen, David Steinmeyer, Spencer Bone, Dane Biesemeyer, Isaac Roling and Joey Mendez.

Roling and Biesemeyer won 8-0 in doubles. Clausen and Bone, along with Steinmeyer and Karsten McMillan, both won their doubles matches 8-1.

Kader Fees and Mendez were 8-0 winners in an exhibition doubles match.

The Jays then topped Glendale 5-4.

Jefferson City won two singles matches via match tiebreakers, as Bone won 6-4, 4-6 (10-8), while Biesemeyer won 6-4, 6-7 (8-6).

Other singles winners were Roling (6-3, 6-0) and Mendez (6-1, 6-0). Losing in singles were Clausen (2-6, 1-6) and Steinmeyer (2-6, 5-7).

Steinmeyer and McMillian won their doubles match 8-3. Falling were Clausen and Bone by a 9-8 score (7-3 tiebreaker) and Biesemeyer and Roling by an 8-5 margin.

Fees and Mendez won their exhibition doubles match 8-3.

The Jays (5-0) play Springfield Central at 10 a.m. today.
