Prep Baseball: Helias beats Hickman

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders scored runs in five of the seven innings on their way to a 7-4 victory against the Hickman Kewpies in a game concluded Thursday.

The game was halted by rain Wednesday and resumed Thursday.

Both teams scored two runs in the first. Hickman then added two in the bottom of the second to take the lead. But Helias scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings before plating two in the sixth.

Alex Faddoul had two hits and scored four times for the Crusaders. Todd Buschjost also had two hits while driving in two runs.

Also scoring for Helias were Dylan Gaines, Ryan Bounds and Alex Werner. Alex Barton, Chase Bexten and Nolan Sachse drove in single runs.

Ryan Graessle was the winner in relief. He pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and one walk. Drew Boessen pitched the first 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out one,

Cole Donaldson got the final two outs in the fifth for Helias, giving up a hit and walking two. Clayton Winter pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, striking out one.

In a schedule change, Helias (4-3) will now play Saturday at Battle. Game time is 11 a.m.

In the JV game, Hickman defeated Helias 5-3.
