2 charged in robbery during party

Two men have been charged in connection with a robbery that occurred early Thursday morning in Jefferson City.

Mark Lewis, 25, of 1027 Buena Vista St., is charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Travion Reams, 21, Holts Summit, is charged with first-degree robbery.

Court documents show the incident occurred at a residence in the 800 block of East McCarty Street just before 12:30 a.m. Lewis and Reams went to the residence for a party, though neither had been invited.

Although the victim told Lewis and Reams not to go to the upstairs area of the home, the two did so and the victim interrupted the pair burglarizing his bedroom.

When the victim confronted Lewis, Reams stepped out of the bedroom closet and struck him several times in the face with his fist, causing injuries to the victim's right eye and forehead.

Lewis eventually drew a small caliber semi-automatic handgun from his right pocket and pointed it toward the victim's stomach.

Fearing for his life, the victime obeyed an order to lay face down on the floor.

Cash was removed from the victim's pocket and Lewis and Reams fled out a back bedroom window. It was later discovered the two used the same window to enter the residence during the party downstairs.

Witnesses saw Lewis and Reams run to a residence in the 300 block of Chestnut Street. Officers went to the area and found Lewis and Reams, taking them into custody.

A search of the Chestnut residence turned up an Xbox, backpack, vehicle keys, laptop computer, a cellphone and the money taken from the victim's pants pocket.

Lewis told authorities he was at the party, but didn't know anything about the robbery. He said it was possible his DNA may be on the Xbox.

Reams claimed he was never at the party and when confronted about being in possession of the recovered cellphone, he claimed that he purchased the phone and had a receipt.

Lewis has a prior arrest for failure to appear on a felony charge and for being a fugitive from out of state. The firearm used by Lewis was not recovered. He has two prior arrests, but no convictions for first-degree robbery.

Reams had an active warrant for failure to appear on a domestic assault charge from Callaway County. He has one prior arrest for burglary and one prior juvenile conviction for armed robbery/carjacking in Florida. He had been on probation for felony possession of a controlled substance in Missouri.
