Lady Jays take three wins in softball tourney

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Jefferson City softball team won three of four games Saturday in the Hickman softball tournament.

Against St. Dominic, the Lady Jays cruised to a 10-2 win. Taylor Dey had four hits, and Katie Tambke, Emily Williams, Darby Brundage, Krista Brickey and Alyssa Schulte each added two of their own.

Schulte threw seven innings of six-hit ball, striking out two and walking three.

The Lady Jays were blown out by Blue Springs, 15-0. Hannah Hirschvogel had the Lady Jays' only hit. Jefferson City allowed 12 hits and nine walks, striking out none.

Jefferson City edged out Parkway South, 3-2, with two hits apiece from Schulte, Williams, Brooke Rozier and Hirschvogel.

Krista Brickey threw seven innings, allowing seven hits and walking one.

The Lady Jays only notched five hits but were able to edge out Troy, 2-1.

Williams and Alexis Gilliland each had two hits. Schulte pitched six innings, allowing six hits and striking out two.

Jefferson City (12-4) plays Monday at Sedalia Smith-Cotton.
