St. Louis students protest principal's departure

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Some St. Louis high school students say they are being short-changed of a quality education amid high teacher turnover and a popular principal's resignation.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (bit.ly/1mz2G66) reports that more than 100 Vashon High students protested outside the school Friday morning. Students described substitute teachers who play movies in class and tests where 'C' grades are given just for showing up.

Principal Terry Houston told co-workers Friday he was leaving the job but did not speak with students. The protest ended after students met with Superintendent Kelvin Adams, Democratic state Senator Jamilah Nasheed and two members of the district's elected school board.
