Forklift overturns, injuring construction worker

A 47 year-old man from Union, Mo., suffered serious head injuries Thursday afternoon, after his forklift overturned at a Jefferson City work site.

The man, who has not been named, was working on the expansion of the Jefferson City West YMCA, 3507 Amazonas Drive.

EMS crews rushed the man from the site to a local hospital. Authorities said he was later flown to a hospital in Columbia for further treatment.

The accident happened at about noon.

Jefferson City fire department crews were on the scene until about 3 p.m., as the forklift was up-righted and a fuel spill was cleaned up.
