Kaiser woman charged with stealing car at gunpoint

A Kaiser, Mo., woman is charged with forcibly stealing a vehicle Thursday afternoon in Cole County.

Court records show Samantha West, 32, is charged with one count of first-degree robbery. As of Friday, she was being held in the Cole County Jail on $250,000 bond.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement said deputies were dispatched to Tractor Supply on Cody Drive just after 3:30 p.m. for a man who said he had been forced out of his vehicle at gunpoint.

The man said he tried to help West, who he said was a friend, when she contacted him about having problems with her vehicle in Kingdom City. He couldn't get the vehicle fixed so the two got into his vehicle.

West was driving back to Camdenton to pick up her son from a school bus stop.

At that time, West told the man that they were being followed by "aliens."

As they traveled east on U.S. 54 near Cody Drive, West stopped the vehicle and pulled a handgun from her purse, pointing it at the man.

West told the man he had just placed a hit on her and then said she would give him until the count of three to get out of the vehicle.

The man got out of the vehicle, and West drove off.

A check with Miller County authorities found West was known to be bipolar and had a history of hallucinations.

The Missouri Highway Patrol was notified and eventually troopers located West on Missouri 42 and took her into custody.

A 9mm handgun with a loaded magazine was recovered from the vehicle.
