A Jefferson City man is charged with assaulting his wife Wednesday by hitting her, kicking her and pushing her down stairs at their home.
Rodolfo Echevarria, 30, is charged with one count of second-degree domestic violence.
A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the incident occurred while the couples' children were in the Westview Drive home.
The incident began as an argument and reached a point where the wife grabbed a knife from the kitchen and demanded Echevarria leave the home.
That's when Echevarria grabbed his wife and attacked her, officials said. The wife was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
