The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Camden County Sheriff's Office are conducting a death investigation as a result of the discovery of a body floating in the Niangua Arm of Lake of the Ozarks, near the 11-mile marker, on Wednesday.

The body was discovered by a nearby resident who notified law enforcement officials.

Current information is that the body is of an unidentified white male of unknown age.

An autopsy is being performed on the body in an attempt to identify the individual and determine a cause of death.

"It's as opened ended as can be," said Patrol Spokesman Sgt. Kevin Hunter. "Hopefully the autopsy can yield a solid cause of death, but for now all we know is this person could have fallen off a bluff or cliff or could have been killed and dumped in the lake."
