3 arrested after vehicle pursuit in JC

A short vehicle chase led to the arrest of three people, late Thursday morning in Jefferson City/

According to police reports, at approximately 11 a.m., officers responded to Wal-Mart East on Supercenter Drive for a call of persons acting suspiciously on their parking lot and who may have been involved in attempted thefts there as well.

When officers arrived they located a vehicle that was believed to be a part of the incident in the parking lot.

An officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off and the pursuit began.

The pursuit went on McCarty Street to Algoa Road and then to North Shamrock Road where the vehicle eventually stopped.

With assistance from Missouri Highway Patrol troopers all three occupants were taken into custody without incident.

The two males and one female were arrested for resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of methamphetamine.

The vehicle was found to have been stolen out of Columbia and its license plates were taken from Jefferson City.

A small quantity of methamphetamine and a variety of merchandise that appeared to be stolen was recovered.

Names of the suspects were not released until formal charges were filed.
