Lincoln University campus lockdown lifted

Lincoln University officials issued an emergency alert at 10:38 p.m., locking down the Jefferson City campus. The lockdown was called off around an hour later.

The original statement announcing the lockdown was as follows: "The Lincoln University Police Department has received word of a potential threat on campus. Currently the Lincoln University campus is on lockdown, with no entry or exit currently allowed on the main campus property."

The followup announcement at 11:40 p.m. stated only: "The campus lockdown has been lifted."

No additional information was immediately available. Campus police referred inquiries to the University Relations office, which did not immediately return messages seeking more information.
