Mauk honored by SEC

COLUMBIA - Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk was named the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week Monday, following his five-touchdown, 325-yard performance against Toledo on Saturday.

Mauk was 21-for-32 against the Rockets and accounted for a sixth score with a 1-yard touchdown run. The sophomore is one of four FBS quarterbacks with eight touchdown passes so far this season.

"It means a lot (to be named offensive player of the week), but obviously you can't do it without the five guys up there protecting me," Mauk said. "I had all day to throw. They did a tremendous job.

"And ... the receivers, everything they did, they're at the right spots at the right time, and that's my job to get them the ball, and they made plays for it, and we came out with a victory."

The Tigers (2-0) host Central Florida at Faurot Field on Saturday. Game time is 11 a.m.
