Lady Jays pick up two volleyball wins

WASHINGTON, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays went 2-1-1 Saturday at the St. Francis Borgia Invitational.

In pool play, Jefferson City opened with a 25-8, 26-24 loss to St. Dominic. Mary Vandelicht led the Lady Jays with 10 kills.

Jefferson City then split with Lutheran South 9-25, 25-22. Chelsey Klosterman had seven service points and nine digs.

The Lady Jays finished pool play with a 25-9, 25-17 win against Francis Howell North. Mary Wehmeyer had eight kills and recorded five blocks, while Klosterman had eight service points and six digs. Maggie Albert helped lead the attack with 13 assists.

In the final game of the tournament, Jefferson City held off Washington for a 25-13, 25-20 win. Megan Bleidistel had 11 service points and five digs.

The Lady Jays (3-5-1) will play at Fatima on Monday.
