BizBeat: Capital Mall to host new restaurant, salon

Capital Mall in Jefferson City will welcome two new businesses in the coming month: Taco Depot and Hair in Style.

Taco Depot, a Mexican-style carry-out restaurant, is a partnership between Dale Clack and his mother, Mary Lou Clack.

"My mother and I have been working on opening a restaurant together for about the last seven months," Clack said. "We've always cooked together."

Taco Depot, which will be located in the food court across from Stir Fry 88, will offer typical Mexican fare including tacos, burritos, tostadas, taco salads, rice bowls and quesadillas.

Additionally, all of Taco Depot's meats are cooked "naturally," meaning the seasoning is added after cooking, so customers have the option of adding taco seasoning or barbecue sauce to the restaurant's pulled pork, roast beef, braised chicken or ground beef.

Taco Depot is set to hold its grand opening Friday, Oct. 31, and will offer a free soda to each customer who presents a receipt from a Capital Mall store through Nov. 7.

"It seemed to fit well with what was in the mall compared to what was needed. There's not a Mexican restaurant within 3 to 4 miles," Clack said. "The mall is expanding and getting new retailers all the time, and it's a growing business just like I am, so it seemed to be a good match."

Beauty salon Hair in Style will be located near JCPenney and is set to open in the first week of November, according to Jamie Reed, Capital Mall general manager. The salon's owner was not available for comment.
