Boys soccer: Jays down Waynesville

On Thursday night

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays wrapped up the soccer regular season Thursday night with a 6-1 victory against the Waynesville Tigers.

Colton Acock scored a pair of goals for Jefferson City, which led 3-0 at the half. Alec Menzies and Jordan Cameron joined Acock in scoring in the first half.

Acock, Erich Sporleder and Ayrton Omoigui tallied goals for the Jays in the second half.

Waynesville's goal came with 12 minutes remaining.

Jefferson City (14-6) will open Class 4 District 11 Tournament action against Rock Bridge at 7 p.m. Monday at Battle High School in Columbia. The Jays are the No. 3 seed, while the Bruins are seeded second.

Hickman, the No. 1 seed, will face fourth-seeded Battle in the first game at 5 p.m. Monday.

The championship game is slated for 6 p.m. Wednesday.
