Cross Country: Thomas Jefferson wins title

At Capital City

Thomas Jefferson finished first overall and swept the top three spots in the Capital City middle school meet Friday to finish the season undefeated for the first time in program history.

Thomas Nield finished first with a time of 8:25.44. Landon Dunlap came in second with a time of 8:34.71, and Izaak Sochinski was third with a 8:39.56 time.

Trent Kempker (9:06.28), eighth, and Brady Sloan (9:18.97), 10th, rounded out the top five Thomas Jefferson runners.

Thomas Jefferson was first with 24 points. Lewis and Clark finished sixth with 137 points.

Ben Krause finished fifth for Lewis and Clark with a time of 8:48.74. Brennon Jeffries (9:10.19) finished ninth, Garrett Butel (10:16.35), Bryan Elseman (10:20.14) finished 47th, and Patrick Malone (10:25.99) finished 49th.

In the girls race, Thomas Jefferson finished second with 61 points, and Lewis and Clark was fourth with 93 points.

Lauren Tuck finished second overall for Thomas Jefferson with a time of 10:10.83. Mya Drayton (10:26.74) came in fifth, Amy Cook (10:39.85) finished eighth, Mira Gahndi (11:23.23) finished 26th, and Trinity Pendelton (11:41.56) finished 34th.

For Lewis and Clark, Kaitlyn Schwandtner (10:31.57) was the top runner, finishing sixth overall. Emma Brondel (10:42.86), 10th, Elizabeth Dunn (10:46.99), 13th, Valerie Hurt (11:46.50), 36th, and Sasha Campbell (12:06.26), 47th round
