Local middle school volleyball teams split

Thomas Jefferson and Lewis and Clark closed the season by splitting a seventh-eighth grade volleyball doubleheader Thursday at Lewis and Clark.

Lewis and Clark won the seventh-grade match 23-25, 25-13, 25-20.

Abby Baughman and Morgan Drury had two kills each for the Lady Blazers (10-1), while Jaiden Allabaugh had five aces and Jordyn Mays had four assists.

Madeline Showers had five aces and eight assists for the Lady Patriots (9-3), Abigayle LaGore had four kills and Kelsie Spears had six digs.

In the eighth-grade match, Thomas Jefferson won 18-25, 26-24, 25-23.

Madeline Jones had two kills, 11 assists and seven aces for the Lady Patriots (3-12-2). Lily McCutchen and Camryn Eidson had two digs each, while Jayida Brandt had two kills and one ace.

For the Lady Blazers, Carlee Brehe had four kills, Haleigh Nelson had three aces and Kelsie Backues had four assists.

On Tuesday, Lewis and Clark split a pair at Rolla.

The seventh-graders won 25-12, 24-26, 15-10. Baughman had nine aces, three blocks and two kills, Allabaugh had four aces, Abby Nelp had two kills and Mays had three assists.

The eighth-graders lost 25-11, 25-11. Backues had two aces and four assists, Brehe had four kills and one block and Shae Lackman had three digs.

On Monday, the seventh-graders won 25-20, 25-17 at home against Waynesville as Baughman had 10 aces.
