Area foursome hold their spots in football rankings

For yet another week, there was no movement for local teams in the Missouri high school football rankings.

Four schools - Helias, California, Blair Oaks and South Callaway - maintained their positions in the rankings by 15 media members from around the state.

Despite falling 40-10 to Rockhurst, Helias (7-1) remained at No. 2 in Class 4. The Crusaders wrap up the regular season Friday by hosting the Sullivan Eagles for Homecoming.

The victory against Helias impressed some poll voters as Rockhurst received four first-place votes while staying at No. 2 in Class 6. The Hawklets had no votes for the top spot last week.

The California Pintos (8-0) stay at No. 2 in Class 3 after defeating the School of the Osage Indians 43-29 last Friday night. California looks to win the Tri-County Conference title outright with a victory Friday at Warsaw.

The Blair Oaks Falcons hold down the No. 8 spot in Class 3 after defeating Warsaw 52-12 last Friday. Blair Oaks (6-2) will host Versailles to conclude the regular season Friday.

The South Callaway Bulldogs continued their string of dominating wins last week and are ranked No. 4 in Class 2. The Bulldogs (8-0) blasted Montgomery County 52-0 last Friday.

South Callaway wraps up its regular season Friday at Bowling Green.

The No. 1 teams in all six classes also maintained their spots. Unanimous selections are Fort Osage in Class 5, Webb City in Class 4, Maryville in Class 3, Lamar in Class 1 and Ste. Genevieve Valle in Class 1. Hazelwood Central is No. 1 in Class 6 with 10 first-place votes, while No. 4 C.B.C. got the other No. 1 nod.
