Vienna tops Steelville in district softball

The fourth-seeded Vienna Lady Eagles rolled to a 17-7 win in six inning Tuesday against No. 5 Steelville in the opening round of the Class 2 District 5 tournament.

Taylour Schoene had four hits, including two doubles, a drove in a run, while Annie John added a three-run double to lead Vienna at the plate.

Courtney Father, Cheyenne Wood and Maddie Stricklan all had two hits to help pace the offensive attack for the Lady Eagles.

Stricklan picked up the win after allowing three earned runs on two hits, while walking eight and striking out five in 41/3 innings.

Vienna (13-7) will face top-seeded Iberia (16-3) at 4:30 p.m. today in Cuba.
