Man get probation for home break-in

A Jefferson City man charged with breaking into a residence in December 2013 has been placed on five years supervised probation.

Kyle Vaughn, 19, of 2618 Southridge Drive, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and stealing a firearm.

He must also serve a 15-day shock-detention sentence.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the break-in occurred at a home in the 1500 block of Green Berry Road. Entry was made by forcing open a kitchen window. Two handguns and two laptop computers were taken.

During an interview with authorities, Vaughn admitted to stealing the items. He said the laptops were later sold and one firearm was tossed into a junk pile at an unknown location. He also said he didn't know the whereabouts of the second firearm.
