Local man gets 10-year sentence for selling drugs

A Cole County man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for pleading guilty to selling drugs two different times last December to a Jefferson City police informant.

Kurtis D. Pavitt, 37, of 1204 Grandview Court, was charged with two counts of selling a controlled substance, a Class B felony.

He was charged with selling methamphetamine between Dec. 1 and Dec. 9, 2013, and with selling Xanax and Vicodin between Dec. 10 and Dec. 31.

Both transactions used an informant to buy the drugs, and were recorded with digital audio and video recorders.

According to court documents, Pavitt was on parole for two counts of felony possession of controlled substances, possession of ephedrine with intent to manufacture, assault on a law enforcement officer-2nd degree, felony resisting arrest and burglary 1st degree when he was taken into custody in February.
