Harvest season brings fall celebrations

Leaves are turning their fall colors and the fruits of crops and vegetables are completing their season.

The Governor's Mansion will celebrate Harvest Fest this year in Jefferson City from 10 a.m.-3 p.m Saturday with 14 stations, including a photo booth, live music and caramel apples, on the front lawn.

Good weather brought out nearly 4,000 visitors last year.

Visitors downtown also will find the 13th annual Multicultural Forum Fall Festival 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday on Madison and High streets.

More than 40 arts, crafts and informational booths will be set up, as well as a main stage for all-day acts representing various nationalities. Children's activities, games and giveaways also will be available.

Live entertainment on stage includes:

  • Capitol City Children's Choir at 10 a.m.,
  • Gerry Tritz's Mid-Mo Magic Show at 10:30 a.m.,
  • Lizzy and Company Storytelling at 11:10 a.m.,
  • Hucheng Martial Arts exhibit at 11:45 a.m.,
  • Jefferson City Swing Dance at 12:15 p.m.,
  • Bulgarian Dancers at 12:45 p.m.,
  • R2R rhythm and blues performance at 1:25 p.m. and
  • Lincoln University International Student Fashion Show at 2 p.m.

Jugglers and magicians will roam throughout the day.

Seven food vendors will serve ethnic and traditional items.

A donated canned good to benefit the Samaritan Center will get a pumpkin in return.
