Six Osage Beach businesses damaged in fire Tuesday

Six Osage Beach businesses were damaged when a fire broke out in a structure at 1026 Palisades Blvd. Tuesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Osage Beach Fire Protection District, the incident occurred at about 2:17 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, when the fire district received a report of an explosion at that address with people trapped on the roof and inside the structure.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy yellow smoke coming from above Duenke Enterprises and several people still on the roof of the business.

The fire apparently started when construction crews were working on a section of the flat roof structure and the adhesive utilized in the work is believed to have ignited the flames. The actual cause of the ignition was not known at press time. The actual cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The workers on the roof were rescued and no one was injured in the blaze, however six businesses within the multi-unit structure did suffer damage from the fire.

According the press release that damage was as follows:

• Duenke Enterprises - heavy fire damage to roof and extensive water and smoke damage to business

• State Farm Insurance - heavy fire damage to roof and extensive water and smoke damage to business

• Paint Box Café - heavy fire damage to roof and limited smoke and water damage to business

• Lake Convenience Clinic - light water and smoke damage

• Stella Donna Salon - light smoke damage

• Vida Fitness - very light smoke damage

Several unoccupied units also received damage, some with heavy fire damage to the roof and extensive smoke and water damage to the interiors, others only received light damage.

In addition to Osage Beach Fire Protection District, units from the Mid-County, Lake Ozark and Sunrise Beach fire protection districts also responded to the blaze, as well as units from the Eldon and Camdenton fire departments.
