WASHINGTON (AP) - Laurin Mincy scored 23 points, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had 16, and No. 9 Maryland overcame a sloppy start and slowly pulled away in the second half Saturday in a 75-65 win over nearby rival George Washington.
After committing 13 turnovers in the first half, the Terrapins (4-0) opened the second half by going more than nine minutes before giveaway No. 14. They turned a one-point halftime deficit into a modest cushion by forcing the action and taking the ball inside.
Jonquel Jones scored 18 points to lead the Colonials (2-2), who committed 22 turnovers and didn't make a free throw until 1:30. They finished 4 for 9 at the line.
No. 13 KENTUCKY 71, CENTRAL MICHIGAN 68
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - Jennifer O'Neill scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and Kentucky held on to beat Central Michigan.
Kentucky (4-0) took a 47-28 advantage into halftime but shot just 36.5 percent from floor overall and barely held off a Central Michigan rally in the second half to seal the win. O'Neill's five 3s tied her career best, but Kentucky went 8 of 28 from long range.
Makayla Epps added 12 points, Linnae Harper had 10 and Azia Bishop snagged 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, who have opened with four straight wins for the fourth time in five seasons.
Central Michigan (1-1) was led by Jessica Green, who had 16 points.
No. 18 DEPAUL 84, SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 62
CHICAGO (AP) - Megan Podkowa scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead DePaul over South Dakota State.
DePaul (3-1) shot 43.6 from the floor and was 8 of 24 from beyond the arc.
Podkowa scored the first eight points of the game, but back-to-back 3s by South Dakota State's Megan Waytashek and a layup by Clarissa Ober tied it at 8. That's the last time the Jackrabbits would be close, as an 8-point run propelled DePaul to a 10-point halftime advantage and DePaul pulled away from there.
Brittany Hrynko had 16 points and five assists for the Blue Demons. Jessica January and Megan Rogowski both had 11 points, while Brooke Schulte added nine points and seven boards.
Waytashek led South Dakota State (1-1) with 26 points and seven rebounds.
No. 18 IOWA 90, DAYTON 83
IOWA CITY, Iowa. (AP) - Samantha Logic had her fifth career triple-double, and Bethany Doolittle scored 23 points and blocked five shots to lead Iowa past Dayton in the championship game of the Hawkeye Challenge.
Logic scored 12 points to go along with 11 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals for Iowa (4-0). Ally Disterhoft added 18 points; Whitney Jennings scored 15, including three 3-pointers, and Melissa Dixon chipped in with 10.
Dayton (1-3) took a 68-58 lead with 9:47 to play, but Disterhoft scored the first four points during an 11-2 Iowa run. Doolittle hit a pair of free throws with 3:24 left, giving the Hawkeyes their first lead since early in the half and sparking a 12-4 spurt to finish the game.
No. 20 OREGON STATE 92, CONCORDIA (ORE) 35
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Jamie Weisner had 16 points and 13 rebounds, Ruth Hamblin had 17 and 11 and Oregon State rolled to a win over Concordia (Ore).
The Beavers (3-0) raced to a 52-9 lead at the half by holding the Cavaliers (2-1) to 14 percent shooting. Concordia was 4 of 28 from the field while OSU went 9 of 18 from the 3-point line.
Oregon State finished the game shooting 51.4, with Hamblin, who also had four blocks making 8 of 9 shots. The Beavers out-rebounded its NAIA foe 54-27 and piled up 30 assists with eight players having at least two.
Sydney Wiese and Weisner each had four 3's with Weise finishing with 12 points and five assists. Marie Gulich had 14 points as three OSU reserves hit double figures.
Briannah Smith had 8 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers.
No. 21 OKLAHOMA STATE 77, MISSOURI STATE 36
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Brittany Atkins scored 20 points, Roshunda Johnson had 12 assists to go with 12 points and Oklahoma State easily handled Missouri State.
LaShawn Jones added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Cowgirls, who played without leading scorer Brittney Martin (19.7 points per game), who was out with an injury.
The Cowgirls (3-1) rebounded after losing 79-77 at No. 11 North Carolina on Wednesday night. The victory was 35th in a row over nonconference opponents at home. The last such loss came against Duke in 2010.
Oklahoma State led 32-20 at halftime despite shooting just 35.1 percent. But the Cowgirls rebounded with a 55.2 percent performance in the second half, outscoring the Bears by 29 points in the last 20 minutes.
Liza Fruendt scored 11 points and Hillary Chvatal had 11 rebounds for the Bears (0-3).
No. 22 RUTGERS 64, LSU 57
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Tyler Scaife scored 16 points and Rachel Hollivay and Briyona Canty added 13 each as Rutgers used a 9-3 run late in the game to break away from stubborn LSU.
Canty scored twice, Hollivay added a three-point play in the flurry and Betnijah Laney also scored. Laney finished with a double-double in the third straight game, also snaring a career-high 16 rebounds.
With the win and UConn's loss to Stanford, the Scarlet Knights (3-0) own the longest active win streak at nine games.
LSU (2-3) had 10 players score, led by DaShawn Harden's season-best 15 points and four 3-pointers. The Tigers hit only 20 of 63 field goals (31.7 percent) and turned the ball over 21 times.
Rutgers picked up 12 steals - Canty, Scaife and Kahleah Copper each had three.
No. 23 SYRACUSE 77, JACKSONVILLE 61
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Brianna Butler scored 16 points and Diamond Henderson and Taylor Ford combined for 27 off the bench to lead Syracuse to a win over Jacksonville.
The Orange (3-0) took control early, shooting 54.8 percent in the first half to lead the Dolphins (1-3), who shot 22.7 percent 43-21. Butler had 11 points on 4 of 6 shooting, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, before the break.
Syracuse trailed 13-11 before Butler's 3 at the 13:14 mark ignited a 15-0 run. The lead ballooned to 32 points late in the second half.
The Orange finished at 48 percent, making 11 of 26 3-pointers.
Alexis Peterson had 10 points and 7 assists for Syracuse and Brianna Day had eight points and nine rebounds.
Loliya Briggs had 13 points for Jacksonville, which finished at 35.8 percent shooting.
