State Tech president to serve on national board

LINN, Mo. -- Donald Claycomb, president of the State Technical College of Missouri recently was named to the Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) Foundation board of directors, to serve from January 2015 to January 2018.

A news release said Claycomb was chosen for his expertise in workforce development, education and AED accreditation.

The AED Foundation wants to capitalize on momentum for new programs that promise dramatic results for the industry, the news release reported.

Claycomb's appointment is seen as "the shift in momentum the board needs," the release reported.

"Being invited to serve on the AED Foundation Board representing education is a tribute to our graduates, faculty and staff who have built the reputation of the State Technical College of Missouri," Claycomb said.

Claycomb is seen as a "leader in industry partnerships," the release added, noting State Tech's recent partnership with Toyota Bodine, in an attempt to fill 600,000 jobs with quality employees as "just one of the many industry partnerships Claycomb has overseen in his 21 years as president."

Claycomb previously has served a role in several prominent educational associations, and has received a Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of State Councils on Vocational Education.

He has also overseen significant changes to educational programs, faculty, facilities and program accreditations at State Tech, which for years was known as Linn State Technical College.

The news release also noted that the State Technical College of Missouri is one of the leading two-year technical colleges in Missouri and in the Midwest.

State Tech is Missouri's only public higher education institution with a statewide mission devoted solely to technical education.
