JC man faces charges in car theft, chase

A Jefferson City man is charged with stealing a car and then leading police on a high speed chase in September.

Hayden Pardoe, 22, of 1705 Northport Drive, is charged with first-degree tampering and resisting a lawful stop.

Court documents show a Jefferson City police officer stopped Pardoe for a possible theft from Walmart on Supercenter Drive.

As the officer got out of his vehicle, Pardoe sped away.

After a three mile high-speed chase, Pardoe finally pulled over.

Further investigation found the vehicle Pardoe was driving had been reported stolen from Columbia and the license plates on the vehicle had been reported stolen from two different vehicles.

When questioned, Pardoe told officers he fled because he knew the vehicle was stolen and he was "scared."
