Dear Editor:
I would appreciate the opportunity to respond to Harold Horstmann who began his Nov. 4 screed on this topic by wondering whether I had "... any idea what every soldier has to go through to complete basic training?" He also wondered if I knew why "... soldiers do what they do?" He went on to inform me they do what they do to protect me "... and every other citizen in this country."
Horstmann then asked me to explain why I "... think one spoiled brat should go to court, get national attention just so she won't have to be inconvenienced for 21 days to assure the safety of others?" Fair enough.
My response to Horstmann's two questions and request for an explanation are as follows: Yes, been there, done that, you're welcome; and I seem to recall my service had something to do with protecting and defending our liberty; even that of citizens Horstmann considers ".... whining self-centered liberals that think the world revolves around them and we all should make sure they are comfortable above all else."
Thank you, Harold Horstmann, for helping me make my point even clearer on this issue.
