Your Opinion: Response on Ebola, quarantines

Dear Editor:

I'm responding to Mr. Morris D. Munsen Jr.'s letter published Oct.31.

I wonder if Munsen has any idea what every soldier has to go through just to complete basic training? I wonder if Munsen knows why soldiers do what they do?

I'll tell you; it's to protect you and every other citizen in this country. Explain why then you think one spoiled brat should go to court, get national attention just so she won't have to be inconvenienced for 21 days to assure the safety of others?

I'm sick and tired of these whining self-centered liberals that think the world revolves around them and we all should make sure they are comfortable above all else.

Of course, it's understandable after years of our schools teaching self-esteem over concern for others that this would be the result.

This whole Ebola debate, I think, is absolutely ridiculous anyway. Of course when our country is floundering under a government run by Democrat political hacks, what would one expect? The newly appointed Ebola czar is a prime example!

With them in charge they look at the citizenry like a lab rat to be tested and observed while a political decision is developed by a focus group to make sure the best action is taken to protect their political future.

The other aspect of this approach is to keep the media focused on individual cases like Ms. Hickox to assure the media focus stays off the incompetence of the Obama administration and their lack of concern for the citizens of the U.S.

I wonder how different it would be if the media treated Obama like they treated Bush after Katrina?

I do agree with Munsen's last paragraph except for his inclusion of "editorial cartoonists" in the same sentence with "ignorant, opportunistic politicians."

It seems Munsen apparently doesn't know that cartoonists provide an entertaining stimulation of thought while politicians have control over our freedoms and quality of life. There's a huge difference.

Keep it up Jim; you're doing a great job. I know it's a tough out there, but I look forward to your cartoon every day, as it's always nice to know there are others out there with the right perspective.
