For Lake of the Ozarks area friends Zachary Deibel and Brady Lindner, HyVee's Walk on the Rocks is an annual Halloween tradition they intend to keep while they are of trick-or-treating age.

They typically walk away with a large, reusable bag full of candy and prizes from the Halloween trick-or-treating event, which takes place every Oct. 31 and raises money for the Dream Factory - Lake of the Ozarks chapter.

The boys, who dressed as popular video game icon Slender Man and "God's Gift to Women," joined thousands of Lake of the Ozarks children and families who walked by dozens of participating vendors that passed out candy and goodies.

Businesses such as Central Dairy in Jefferson City and local organizations like the Lake Ozark Rotary International and Ozarks Coast Kiwanis stocked up on chocolate, treats and other giveaways such as bottled water and cold milk to hand out to costumed children from across the tri-county region.

HyVee's Walk on the Rocks in Osage Beach started a slew of more than 20 different family-friendly events Halloween night, including church and organization trunk-or-treats, business-ran haunted houses, family-owned interactive trick-or-treats, Ha Ha Tonka State Park's Ha Ha Haunt, and Mother Nature Retreat's Haunted Hayride and Haunted Maze.

The Lake of the Ozarks Halloween-goers could get one final use of their costumes at adult-themed parties, The Witching Hour Site's Interactive Trick-or-Treat in Roach, Mother Nature Retreat's Haunted Hayride and Haunted Maze, Harper Chapel United Methodist Church's Trunk or Treat, and Indian Rock Golf Course's Halloween Festival and Golf Tournament on Saturday night.
