Franks, Elder lead Blair Oaks; Eugene sits in fifth

BOLIVAR - With Kory Franks and Tanner Elder leading the way, the Blair Oaks Falcons sit in third place after the opening day of the Class 2 State Golf Championships.

Franks leads the field by five shots after one round after shooting a 69 on Monday. Elder is tied for fourth after carding a 76.

Blair Oaks had a team total of 333. Barstow leads the eight-team field at 327, with Whitfield second at 331.

Jake VanRonzlen of the Falcons is tied for 39th after a 91, while Corbin Singer rounds out the four Blair Oaks players who recorded scores Monday with a 97 to tie him for 78th.

The Eugene Eagles are in contention for a team trophy as well, sitting in fifth after totaling a 341 on Monday.

Cody Shaw paced Eugene in the opening round, shooting an 81 to tie for 14th. Jeremy Evers is tied for 39th with an 86, while Drew Geritz and Austin Russell both shot 87s to tie for 44th. Carson Doerhoff shot a 97 to tie for 78th after one round.

The top four teams earn trophies, while the top 15 individuals are selected as all-state. The tournament concludes today.
