Motorcyclists got revved up for a season of biking at the Lake of the Ozarks yesterday at the Mid Coast Bike Run hosted by the Noble Eagles of Eldon.

Started in 2005, the Mid Coast Bike Run zoomed around the lake area for the 10th year in a row, taking off and ending at Camp Bagnell Fish and Steakhouse in Bagnell, Missouri, near Eldon. The event included an all-day poker run at several lake area locations along with vendors and live music back at Camp Bagnell Saturday evening, as well as a pre-ride party at Bootleggers Sports Book & Grill in Osage Beach Friday night.

Two hundred sixty-five tried their hands at the poker run, while even more came to enjoy the festivities. Poker run participants who stamped their cards at all seven poker run locations had a chance to win a brand-new Harley-Davidson motorcycle when they returned to Camp Bagnell Saturday evening.

While half the event's proceeds were up for grabs to a lucky raffle winner, the remaining portion benefits three Eldon High School students who each will receive a $500 college scholarship.

The Eldon Noble Eagles, a patriotic and civic organization, holds various events and fundraisers year-round that frequently benefit students in the Eldon R-1 School District. Most recently the group hosted a barbecue fundraiser benefiting the school district's Mustang Pack program that helps feed students in need.
