Crusaders' offense explodes for 24 runs

While taking games with Union, McCluer North

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Helias had 24 hits and scored 24 runs as the Crusaders swept a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at Hickman High School.

Helias claimed a 14-3 victory against McCluer North in Game 1, before rolling to a 10-3 win against Union in the nightcap.

Alex Barton and Todd Buschjost both had two hits and drove in three runs, while Hayden Lee added three hits and two RBI to lead Helias at the plate in the opener.

Austin Sachse and Alex Faddoul both had two hits and drove in a run, while Brock Gerstner and Garrett Buschjost each had a hit and an RBI.

Clayton Winter received the win after surrendering two runs (no earned) on two hits, while walking six and striking out seven in 4 1/3 innings. Sachse threw a scoreless 1 2/3 innings, while Matthew Rehagen allowed one run (no earned) on one hit in one inning.

Sachse came back to throw a complete game in the nightcap, allowing three runs (one earned) on eight hits, while walking three and striking out two in seven innings.

Sachse and Faddoul both had two hits and drove in two runs to lead the Crusaders offensively in Game 2.

Lee drove in a pair of runs, while Alex Barton and Garrett Buschjost both had two hits and two RBI to help lead Helias.

Helias (17-8) will host Sedalia on Thursday.
