Sixth player signs with Lincoln

Lincoln announced Tuesday Jasmine Guthrie has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her playing career with the Blue Tigers.

Guthrie, who will begin her Lincoln career this season as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining, averaged a double-double as a sophomore at Rend Lake College in Ina, Ill.

Guthrie led Rend Lake to 10 wins, scoring 10.8 points while pulling down 11 rebounds per night. A 6-foot-1 post player, Guthrie also averaged 1.1 steals and 1.0 assists while shooting 49 percent from the field.

Guthrie came to Rend Lake from Belleville East High (Ill.), where she averaged four points and 4.6 rebounds as a senior.

"Jasmine fulfills a big role for us," Lincoln head coach Nicole Collier said in a statement Tuesday. "She has tremendous work ethic, is a good rebounder and brings a physical presence inside the paint. We think she'll make an immediate impact in our program."

Guthrie brings the Blue Tigers' 2014-15 signing class up to six. She joins Dorian Briggs, Kayton Cole, Zuri Hill, Kaya Johnson and Jordan Matthews as players who will begin their careers at Lincoln this fall.
