JC man gets 5 years for heroin

A Jefferson City man has been sentenced to five years in prison for pleading guilty to two counts of heroin possession.

Both counts charged that Robert L. Jones, 39, of 705-A Broadway St., "knowingly distributed and delivered and sold heroin" in 2013 between Jan. 1 and Feb. 25.

Jones was arrested after the Jefferson City police SWAT and Community Action teams served a search warrant at his apartment, as part of an ongoing narcotics distribution investigation.

A police news release said officers also found a .25-caliber handgun during the search.
