Lincoln baseball falls to Central Missouri

The Central Missouri Mules scored in every inning but one and captured a 15-3 win against Lincoln in a game shortened to seven innings due to the run rule.

The Mules, who outhit the Blue Tigers 14-6 in the game, got a single run in the first inning before breaking it open with four in the second. Brad Wilson (Helias High School) had an RBI single in the second for Central Missouri. He went 1-for-2 with one RBI and three walks in the game.

Lincoln got to within 5-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. The first came in on an RBI single by Joe Jungmeyer and Josh Kennedy drove in the second when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

But the Blue Tigers left the bases loaded in that frame, and Central Missouri got the rout rolling with four more runs in its next inning at the plate.

The Mules added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings and had another four-run inning in the seventh.

Lincoln's final run came home in the fifth when Gatlin Wiggans' fielder's choice drove home Kennedy.

Kennedy had a single and a double with one RBI and was the only Blue Tiger with multiple hits.

Nathan Lueckenhoff (0-5), the first of five Lincoln pitcher, took the loss. He gave up nine runs (six earned) on nine hits and four walks in 22/3 innings.

Zach York pitched the next 21/3 innings, giving up one earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out one. In 1/3 of an inning, Ian Fuemmeler, gave up an earned run on two walks; Joshua Register allowed four earned runs on one hit and three walks in one inning; and Wiggans allowed one hit and one walk in the final 2/3 of an inning.

The Blue Tigers dropped to 1-23 overall and 0-20 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, while the Mules improved to 22-9 and 19-5.
