Man pleads guilty to sex assault

A Jefferson City man has pleaded guilty to a charge related to a sexual assault case from December 2013.

Justin Shaw, 32, committed the crime in the 200 block of Ash Street. He was charged with one count of second-degree statutory rape.

Shaw must also complete 120 days of shock detention in the Cole County Jail as part of his probation.

Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements show Shaw was charged with having sex with a female younger than 17.

Shaw is a registered sex offender.

The female victim had been reported missing from a nearby community, but was found to be with Shaw. Shaw and the female victim admitted to being intoxicated when these events occurred.
