Jays pick up pair of wins

FT. PIERCE, FLA. - The Jefferson City baseball team held off Chestnut Hill 7-6 before claiming a 7-2 win against Fort Pierce Central on Thursday.

The Jays are now 4-2 on the year and will conclude their Florida road trip today.

Jackson Walker had three hits and drove in two runs, while Travis Hennesy added two RBI to pace Jefferson City in the opener.

Kyle Irwin allowed two earned runs on 10 hits and two walks, while striking out one in 5 2/3 innings. Cody Hager earned the win in Game 1, allowing two earned runs on three hits in 2/3 innings.

Hennessy picked up the victory in the nightcap. The junior right-hander threw five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out 11.

Gabe Marcantonio had two hits, while Jake Walker tallied a hit and drove in two runs to lead the Jays at the plate. Brenden Ogletree and Adam Grunden both added an RBI to help pace the offensive attack in Game 2.
