Missouri splits with Illinois in softball

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - No. 16 Missouri split its doubleheader with Illinois, falling in the first game 3-0 before bouncing back with a 9-6 victory in the nightcap on Wednesday at Lindenwood University.

Casey Stangel picked up the win for the Tigers in Game 2, allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits while striking out six in seven innings.

Angela Randazzo had four hits - three in the nightcap - and drove in two runs to pace Missouri at the plate. Corrin Genovese added two hits and two RBI, while Natalie Fleming was 1-for-2 with three RBI in Game 2 to help lead the offensive attack.

Tori Finucane was tagged for the loss in Game 1 after allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks. The freshman also struck out eight in seven innings.

Missouri (23-8) was outhit 18-15 and committed three errors on the day.
